What are the differences between Python in Excel, Copilot and Power Query?

There has been many new features and capabilities in Excel like Copilot and Python in Excel.

So I wanted to give you an overview of some of these features and at the same time, compare them with some pre-existing capabilities that are useful for data analytics.

Let’s break down the main differences between Power Query, Python in Excel, Copilot in Excel, and even Copilot with Python.

Each of these tools serves different purposes, although they can sometimes overlap in terms of functionality.

1. Power Query in Excel

Main Purpose: Data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

Power Query is a data preparation tool.

It allows users to import data from various sources (e.g., databases, websites, CSVs), clean, transform, and reshape that data for use in Excel.
