Why it matters for Finance?
FP&A teams spend countless hours pulling numbers, building variance reports, and preparing slides for executives. With the new COPILOT function, Excel can now generate insights directly in the grid — turning raw data into narratives, scenarios, and forecasts in seconds.
Instead of spending time manually crunching numbers, you can shift energy toward decision-making and storytelling.
What the COPILOT function does
The formula syntax is simple:
=COPILOT(prompt_part1, [context1], [prompt_part2], [context2], …)
The COPILOT function syntax has the following arguments:
- Prompt_part: What you want (e.g., “Summarize revenue trends”).
- Context: The data you point to in your workbook (e.g., a table of actuals vs budget).
